Where am I going with these questions? I am not too sure. Just a few jottings around the subject of procrastination and the cause of it. I have said it before and it is on my website that the word procrastination comes from the Latin Pro – in favour of and Cras – tomorrow. The opposite of procrastination can be many things but I favour take action now. There are many reasons that people procrastinate – some of them really serious and cannot be addressed here but some of them are really easy to get over. Just make the decision to do it. Motivate yourself to do something that you really don’t want to do.
Fear is another reason for procrastination: what is the worse that can happen if you do the thing you are frightened of? Actually nothing really bad can happen. If you feel you are going to fail – you will fail. Try to visualize yourself succeeding and see the steps you will need to take to make what eve
Perhaps you get distracted too easily. Sort out what the distractions and see what you can do with them. Remember you can give yourself the relief of giving in to the distractions for as long as you want – as soon as the job is done.
Perhaps it is prioritising you have a problem I was once told to do the job you dislike the most first – then it is over and done with and you can get on with doing something you would really rather do.
